Ensembles

Different ensembles within Anima offer escalating levels of challenge, appropriate to the age, maturity and experience of the singers in each ensemble. Each ensemble is designed to be a rewarding experience in its own right, and offers enriching rehearsal and performance opportunities.

KidSingers

Anima Glen Ellyn Children’s Choir KidSingers is an introductory class for children entering Kindergarten and First grade. This entry-level program helps children find their singing voice, learn to move to music, develop beginning aural skills, and develop self confidence.

Introductory Ensemble

  • For students in grades K-1
  • Rehearses once a week for 45 min

 

2018-2019 Season
  • Rehearses: Tuesday, 5:00-5:45pm  
  • Semester tuition is $200

  • Rehearsals run September 18 through December 4
    • December 4th rehearsal includes a recital featuring KidSingers and the Anima Treble Chorus.

Treble Chorus (and Treble Plus)

Treble Chorus is the first of our main performing ensembles.  In rehearsals Treble Choristers explore the joy of musical expression and the self-esteem that grows from skillful choral singing. Choristers work on establishing healthy singing habits, singing with good intonation, and learning to read basic musical notation. Through rehearsal and performance, members learn a variety of pieces, beginning with basic unison, then two-part singing, and occasional three-part.

Treble Chorus

  • For students in grades 2-5
  • Rehearses once a week for 90 minutes
  • Performs 6 times per year at area venues such as the Pumpkin Patch

 

2018-2019 Season
  • Practice is Tuesday, 4:30-6:00pm
  • Annual Tuition: $561 per year or $80 payable in monthly installments

Treble Plus

All the benefits of Treble Chorus for students in grades 3-5 who are ready for additional music and choral training (by Anima staff recommendation only). Ideal for students who are anticipating moving to Concert Chorus in the next year.

 

2018-2019 Season
  • Rehearsals are on Tuesday, 4:30-6:00 pm (regular Treble Chorus rehearsal) and on Thursday, 5:30-6:30 pm
  • Annual Tuition: $912 per year or $123 payable in monthly installments

  • Rehearsals run September 11 through late May

Concert Chorus

At the intermediate level of Anima, Concert Choristers continue their development of vocal and musical skills through the rehearsal and performance of a varied repertoire. Students gain experience through performance with professional music organizations, travel, and recording opportunities.

Intermediate Ensemble

  • For students grades 4-7
  • Rehearses twice weekly for 1 hour and 45 minutes each time
  • Performs approximately 10 times per year
  • Highlights include the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Joffrey Ballet, and the Grant Park Orchestra
  • Tours regionally and nationally

 

2018-2019 Season
  • Rehearsals are on Tuesday & Thursday, 6:15-8:00 p.m.
  • Annual Tuition: $1128 per year or $150 payable in monthly installments

  • Rehearsals run September 6th through late May

Touring Chorus

Touring Chorus is available for students 7th grade and up. This ensemble demonstrates exceptional musical skills and superior standards of professionalism. Choristers will concentrate on  learning more advanced sight singing skills and retain complex melodic, harmonic and rhythmic material. They exhibit superior vocal abilities, musicality, and emotional maturity.

This ensemble commits to two hour rehearsals twice a week in order to prepare for prestigious national and international performances, with groups such as the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Grant Park Orchestra, Music of the Baroque, and Chicago Sinfonietta.

  • Annual Tuition: $1434 per year or $180 payable in monthly installments

Chamber Ensemble

  • A select group auditioned from the Touring Chorus
  • One additional rehearsal per week
  • Repertoire is usually a cappella and often performed without conductor to encourage additional ensemble skill and student leadership
