Anima is a world class youth choral organization, founded in 1964, which is internationally renowned for the quality of choral education and performance it provides. Formerly the Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus, Anima welcomes young people from Kindergarten through High School in various ensemble programs.
Anima is committed to transforming young lives through excellence in music education and choral singing. Anima creates award-winning voices, where every child can be heard. Our team ignites passion in youth, forming leaders, and instilling excellence alongside a fun, joy-filled experience. The literal and figurative harmony created through a community that achieves together has lifelong benefits.
Different ensembles within Anima offer escalating levels of challenge, appropriate to the age, maturity and experience of the singers in each ensemble. Each ensemble is designed to be a rewarding experience in its own right, and offers enriching rehearsal and performance opportunities.
Dr. Charles Sundquist, Artistic Director of Anima – Glen Ellen Children’s Chorus, is a native of Duluth, Minnesota. He received his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Organ Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, where he was a student of David Craighead.
Anima pulls out the best of you.
There is no way to describe the experience we have when we’re here… We learn passion. We learn compassion. We learn how to be leaders… There are so many things we learn from this choir–I can’t even express in words.
